GSA Nominating Committee

Vacancy:

1 available position for graduate students to serve on the GSA Nominating Committee (GSA NoC).

How To Apply:

Nominations are to be submitted by filling out the form attached and emailing it to gsa.nomcomm@ualberta.ca in advance of the deadline of Wednesday, 11 October 2023 at 12:00 PM (Noon) . Nominations received will be circulated as submitted via email to GSA Council.

There will be an election at the 16 October 2023 meeting of GSA Council.

 

Purpose and Mandate:

The GSA NoC is responsible for filling graduate student vacancies on committees, councils, and other bodies requiring such representation. ” The GSA NoC also leads an annual initiative in October known as the “Early Call for Talent and Training”, during which graduate students interested in running for elected office are invited to attend a Get-to-Know Dinner and a series of training sessions ( GSA Bylaw and Policy, Sections E.POL.8.2 and E.POL.9.2).

Meetings:

As provided for in GSA Policy, much of the work of the GSA NoC is done via e-mail. In-person meetings are called upon new members joining the committee and as needed (GSA Bylaw and Policy, Sections E.POL.9.1 and E.POL.9.2).

Eligibility:

“All members of the GSA are eligible to serve on the GSA NoC unless they intend to run in or serve as a Campaign Volunteer in the upcoming GSA General Election and / or by-election, serve as a Campaign Representative or Volunteer in an upcoming referendum , or they have run in the most recent GSA General Election and / or by-election or served as a Campaign Representative in the most recent referendum. GSA NoC members must also be neutral and impartial (ie having no immediate or vested interest in the outcome of the GSA Elections and referenda. ”(GSA Bylaw and Policy, Section E.POL.6.1).

The GSA Speaker Farhan Khalid and GSA Executive Director Lewie Moodley invite nominations from graduate students to serve on the GSA Nominating Committee (GSA NoC).
